Famous is of course the Nilaveli beach with also the Nilaveli Beach Hotel with unfortunately a fairly unfriendly staff.

At one time waiters had not even been able to serve drinks and guests were forced to leave their dinner tables and to buy bottles at the pool bar.

Right next door is the Nilaveli Garden Hotel with nice rooms, better prices and a much more friendly service.

Sad is, that the prices for Internet usage are way too high just like in too many other Sri Lankan Hotels.
